The Utah County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (UCARES) is a dedicated group of licensed amateur radio operators committed to enhancing community resilience through reliable communication support. Our involvement in various events not only aids public safety but also provides invaluable experience for our members.

What Are UCARES-Supported Events?

UCARES collaborates with local organizations to offer communication assistance during a variety of events, including:

  • Marathons and Races: Ensuring participant safety by maintaining clear communication across the course.
  • Parades and Festivals: Coordinating between event organizers and emergency services to manage crowd control and respond to incidents.
  • Community Gatherings: Providing logistical support and facilitating information flow during public assemblies.

Our role is to support your event by establishing and maintaining communication channels using amateur radio. We are a dedicated team of radio operators who are eager to help support your community event.

Why We Assist with Events

Our participation in community events serves multiple purposes:

  • Member Skill Development: Engaging in real-world scenarios allows our members to apply and refine their communication skills.
  • Community Engagement: Active involvement fosters stronger relationships between UCARES, local organizations, and the public.
  • Communication Infrastructure: Setting up and operating radio networks to ensure constant contact among event staff and emergency responders.
  • Situational Awareness: Monitoring event activities and reporting any issues promptly to facilitate swift responses.
  • Emergency Response: Assisting in the rapid dissemination of information during unforeseen incidents to mitigate risks.
