Greetings all
I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Andrew McGregor. Some of you may remember me from the Elizabeth Smart Search, I served as the Incident Commander of the search. A ham myself, I requested RACES/ARES support upon arrival at the search center. Within 2 hours, a team showed up at midnight and began the long 12 hour days for search support. It was an honor to work with all the volunteers, and I am planning on being at the conference on Nov 22 to speak about the event and how important the role hams played in the search. Remember that a crime had been committed, and we had to have contact with each field team or they could not go.
I hope to both see and meet some of you at the conference, and maybe some old friends I met back then. I have written a book about the search, and gave high praise for the ham radio volunteers in several areas in the book. I have included the website to the book in case you’d like to learn more about both the search and how our hobby played such an important role.
