Saturday, Jan 25 is the Kahtoola Wasatch Winter Big Foot Festival–a 50K snowshoe race at Soldier Hollow in Midway (Heber).
John Bozung, KD7VQF (director of the Squaw Peak 50 and Katchina Mosa races) is in need of afew operators that want to test out their winter gear & radio skills.
Operators are needed from 8AM to 5PM. Forecast is for a nice day with highs in the lower 30s and a tent and propane catalytic heater will be at the aid stations.
Snowmobiles will be there to take you to the aid stations so there will be very little walking in snow.
This would be a great opportunity to have some easy practice using your radios in a low stress environment but you will want to dress very
warmly.
If we get enough Hams to help we could do this in shifts so the activity
doesn’t take up the whole day.
This is a UCARES event for those working on certification.
If you would like to help please email Steve Whitehead at NV7V@ucares.org
