Doug MacKay (kd7lrj) did a great job teaching us how to use the echolink attached to the Explorer post repeater. This magic box will connect us via the internet to repeaters around the world simply using a handheld and a couple of codes. A demonstration connected us to a net based in New York but attended by people all over the country.
Jeff Balllif (kb7vsj) demonstrated Slow Scan TV for us and taught us some simple ways to perform the digital mode. He showed us everything from a cheap computer interface (plans are located in the download section of this web site) to more expensive alternatives. Photos were sent across the room and we learned that they can also be sent through repeaters greatly extending the range of the mode. This can be used as an alternative to fax or fast scan tv depending on the operating environment. This is a handy tool to have in our skill set.
Thanks to all who attended the interface. Next months will be held the first Tuesday in April and will be a fox hunt. Do not go to the sheriffs office. The interface will start on the 147.34 repeater and the fox hunt instructions will be given at that time.
