All those who have signed up have done Sage Riders before. If you want to come out and are new to ARES or amateur radio, we won’t stick you out by yourself.
This takes place near Jericho by the Sand Dunes. This is a fun event. It usually is pretty low key. The sage rider folks are friendly. The really appreciate our communications work. We are there to help vector medical personal and resources into injured riders.
The race is 85 miles long and is run in two loops. They will have the event no matter the weather. It may snow, rain, or be hot all within 12 hours (Welcome to spring!). The checkpoints are all on the dirt roads.
What to bring: Please bring gain antennas, masts, mobiles, batteries, GPS, sunglasses, pen and paper, a lawnchair etc. if you have them. We will be using simplex and HF. Some operators have found that a cross band may make things more comfortable but it is not necessary. Bring food and water, snacks. Plan on being there all day.
You can sign up after the Tuesday night Nets, or email Robert at
